Requirements for Minors Traveling to Cameroon
Video Transcript
If you’re traveling to Cameroon with a minor, or the child is traveling alone, there are specific documents required to ensure smooth entry and exit. Any traveler under 18 is considered a minor. They must have their own passport with at least six months’ validity, an approved Cameroon eVisa, their birth certificate showing both parents’ names, and if they are nine months or older, a Yellow Fever vaccination card. When a child travels with both parents, the birth certificate and travel details are usually enough. If the child is traveling with just one parent, a notarized consent letter from the other parent is required, along with a copy of the absent parent’s ID. In cases of sole custody or if a parent has passed away, official proof such as a custody order or death certificate must be presented. If the child is traveling with someone other than a parent, such as a guardian or part of a school or church group, there must be a notarized consent letter from both parents and documents proving who is responsible for the child. For children traveling alone, the airline’s Unaccompanied Minor service must be arranged, and parents must list who will receive the child upon arrival. Border officers will check all documents carefully, so having everything prepared in advance ensures a safe and smooth journey.
